Stetson University women's basketball head coach Lynn Bria announced Thursday that Daniel Barber has joined the program's coaching staff for the 2014-15 season.

“I am very excited to join the Stetson family," Barber said. "It is my dream to coach at the Division I level and shape the minds and the game of basketball for young, talented women. I look forward to having an immediate impact on the program and achieving success with a highly motivated and gifted group of individuals.”

Barber joins the Hatters from UNC Asheville where he served as an assistant coach in 2013-14. While there, Barber worked with Bulldog guards, enhancing their skills and development during team practice and individual workouts. He also assisted with recruiting, scouting, team academics, and team building activities.

Prior to his time at UNC Asheville, Barber served as a Graduate Assistant and Team Manager at his alma mater, the University of Florida. While at UF, Barber assisted the women's basketball coaching staff with scouting reports, player development and team travel. He was also responsible for conducting individual summer workouts with the team.

"Daniel is a young and upcoming coach, and he is going to be great for us," Bria said. "He comes from a really good background and has worked for some great people. He started at the University of Florida working for Amanda Butler. Having a year under his belt at Asheville really helps, too. He has learned a lot of things and has gained a lot of experience, and I know he will help us right away."

Barber graduated from Florida in 2012 with a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition with a specialization in Dietetics. He served as the Head Manager for women's basketball in 2011-12. He helped facilitate team practices, distribute equipment and assist with team travel responsibilities.

The Hatters won a school-record 27 games in 2013-14.
