It was an exciting day of racing at the Charles this year.  Under dark skies and cold afternoon weather, the Stetson lightweight women finished 2 slots higher in the ranking this year than last year.  With over 50,000 fans lining the Charles River, the Stetson women raced very well against some tough circumstances.

"We were ranked pretty high in the starting order, but we had some boat issues." Coach Saint Sing said.  "We were expecting one boat hull and had to race in another which makes it tough on the women to do their very best.  And we got clipped under the Elliot Bridge...which knocks the rhythm of the crew off just as they are setting a line for the finish sprint.  But all in all I am very very happy with the poise this crew always shows."

Crews were in attendance from all over the world for this race and Stetson finished 11th in their event.  Princeton University passed Stetson to finish 3rd over 2 Philadelphia Clubs of Undine and Vesper.  And in a tough battle for position Brock University--trying to take an inside line against Stetson under the bridge hit the Stetson stern.  Brock is a Canadian crew that took a gold at the nationals in 2010 when Stetson took bronze.

The crew was hosted by the Tufts University crew and stayed at the Tufts boathouse where they enjoyed the breathtaking million dollar facility which is adjacent to the river.

The Stetson lightweights race next at the Hatter Classic this coming Saturday on the 29th from 8-11:30 AM at Lake Beresford.
