Stetson Men Second, Women Third at Florida Tech

Melbourne, Fla. - The Stetson men's cross country team finished second of five teams in the Florida Tech Invitational while the women took third out of three teams on Saturday morning at Wickham Park. Sophomore Andrew Epifanio (DeLand, Fla.) paced the Stetson men with a seventh place finish in 28:52.00 while senior Maria Harper (Tallahassee, Fla.) took third in the women's race in 19:59.00.

Also running strong races for the Hatter men behind Epifanio were junior Kyle Burton (Oviedo, Fla.), who finished ninth in 29:22.00 and freshman Jeremy Butler (Titusville, Fla.), who took 11th place in exactly 30 minutes.

Sophomore Sabrina Guzsvany (Port Orange, Fla.) supported Harper's effort with a 21:54.00 final time, good for ninth place individually. Five other Hatter women finished in the top 20: senior Stephanie Bird (Rockledge, Fla.), freshman Julie Spear (Windermere, Fla.), sophomore Tabitha Castillon (Orlando, Fla.), freshman Christine Iseley (Jacksonville, Fla.) and sophomore Shannon Harrell (Colorado Springs, Colo.).

Host Florida Tech captured the team titles on both the men's and women's side today with Stetson beating out Fort Valley State, Rollins and Florida College in the men's race. Rollins took second among the women with Stetson third.

Stetson returns to action two weeks from today (Saturday, Sept. 24) at the Mountain Dew Invitational in Gainesville, hosted by the University of Florida.
