DeLand, Fla. - Head Coach Frank Griffin and the Stetson softball program have finalized their incoming recruiting class for 2011-12 with the signing of Kandice "Kandi" Kuder to a National Letter of Intent, the program announced Monday. Kuder, a native of Newbury Park, California, has excelled at the plate against some of the nation's toughest competition and experienced team success at the high school and travel softball levels.
Kuder, who plays for Head Coach Gary Walin at Thousand Oaks High School, is batting .522 with three home runs and 14 RBI for the Lancers; she also has nine doubles and two triples, leads the Marmonte League in slugging percentage and on-base percentage and has set the TOHS single-season doubles record.
In travel softball, Kuder competes for the SoCal Pumas 18-U Gold and Coach Gary Keohohou, as does fall 2010 Stetson NLI signee Demi Meza. Club accolades for the Pumas and other organizations featuring Kuder have included the 2008 ASA Gold national title, 2006 ASA Western 16-U national title and ninth place in the 2010 ESPN Rise Premiere Nationals, among others. She plays catcher, third base and outfield.
Kuder becomes the fourth member of an incoming class of Hatters that also features her club teammate Meza as well as pitcher Courtney Brandt (Pasco, Fla.) and catcher Allison Sutherlin (Huntsville, Ala.).
