DeLand, Fla. - Voting results for the 2011 All-Atlantic Sun Conference Softball Teams were announced Tuesday with Stetson senior third baseman Jill Semento (Umatilla, Fla.) being named to the First Team and freshman center fielder Chrissy Morello (Ormond Beach, Fla.) placing on the Second Team and the All-Freshman Team.  Semento is the first Hatter to make the First Team since Andrea Migliori in 2008 while Morello is Stetson's first All-Freshman Team pick and its first All-Conference rookie since 2006.

Semento started all 50 games at third base in 2011, batting .300 with seven home runs, 29 RBI and five doubles.  She led the Hatters in home runs and RBI as well as on-base percentage (.459) and was second in slugging percentage (.500).    In conference play, Semento raised her game to hit .353 and slugged four of her seven home runs against A-Sun foes.  A Capital One CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District III selection and 2010 A-Sun All-Tournament Team member as well, Semento recently graduated from Stetson with her degree in Sport Management.

Morello enjoyed a remarkable college debut, starting all 50 games in center field  and batting leadoff all season long.  She hit .344 with three doubles, a home run and 14 RBI, leading the team in base hits (55), runs scored (27) and ranking fourth in the country among freshmen with a league-leading 28 stolen bases.  The .344 batting average was also tops among A-Sun freshmen as the local product from Spruce Creek High School is the first Hatter since 2006 (Migliori, Erica Demers and Carolina Rojas) to make the A-Sun All-Freshman Team and the first Hatter rookie to land on either the First or Second Team since Demers made the First Team that season.  As Demers was a pitcher, Morello, who put up a whopping .446/.514/.508 slash line in A-Sun games, is the first freshman position player to make an All-Atlantic Sun squad since Tiffany Tolleson made the 2000 First Team.

FGCU senior outfielder Courtney Platt was named A-Sun Player of the Year with Jacksonville junior hurler Sarah Sigrest taking Pitcher of the Year honors.  JU's Amanda Lehotak, who led her team to a 40-14 (18-2 A-Sun) record and the regular season conference crown, was named Coach of the Year.  UNF pitcher Cortney Radke claimed Freshman of the Year laurels.

Stetson returns six starting position players, including Morello and 2010 Second Team All-Atlantic Sun shortstop Chelsey Trotto (Lantana, Fla.), for next year along with its entire pitching staff.  Newcomers slated to make their debuts in 2012 are redshirt freshman pitcher Taylor Cochran (Auburndale, Fla.) and fall arrivals Courtney Brandt (Pasco, Fla.), Kandi Kuder (Newbury Park, Calif.), Demi Meza (Oxnard, Calif.) and Alison Sutherlin (Huntsville, Ala.).
