Chelsea Whalley went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run but Stetson fell 8-3 to South Carolina Friday night at the UCF Holiday Inn Select Tournament in Orlando.

Three of the Hatters (1-4) four losses this year have come at the hands of the Gamecocks (5-1).

South Carolina led 3-0 after one inning and 4-0 after four.  Whalley's opposite field blast in the top of the sixth pulled Stetson within one but the Hatters would pull no closer.

Demi Meza extended her hitting streak to five games, while Chrissy Morello and Jordan Cleghorn also hit safely for the Hatters.

Taylor Cochran pitched four innings in her first career start.

Stetson will face Texas-Arlington at 11 a.m. and Buffalo at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Both games can be heard live on HatterVision.

Notes: The Hatters and Gamecocks went 25 years between meetings prior to last weekend, but the teams waited just six days before squaring off again ... Whalley's eight RBI this season is a career-high ... The Hatters have hit six home runs in five games.
