Jacksonvillle, Fla. -- Demi Meza hit a pair of home runs to help lead Stetson to a 3-1 win over UNF in game one of an Atlantic Sun doubleheader Wednesday night at the UNF Softball Complex. The Ospreys won game two 2-0 behind a five-hit shutout by Courtney Radke.

Stetson (34-12, 17-8 A-Sun) will have to win Thursday's series finale in order to earn a first-round bye in the A-Sun tournament. The start time has been changed to 1 p.m.

"I thought Demi had an outstanding first game, hitting two home runs," Stetson head coach Frank Griffin said. "We had some opportunities the second game and just didn't take advantage of them."

Meza's first home run came in the top of the fourth inning of game one and tied the score 1-1. Then in the sixth, with Chrissy Morello on second, she hit a blast over the rightcenter field fence to give Stetson a 3-1 lead. It was her ninth and 10th home runs of the season.

Meredith Owen (22-7) pitched all 13 innings in the doubleheader for the Hatters, throwing a combined 187 pitches. She picked up the win in game one, allowing six hits and one run while striking out seven. She fanned seven more batters in the nightcap.

"Meredith did her job well, we just didn't hit the ball for her (in game two)," Griffin said.

Radke walked four and struck out three for UNF (26-23, 10-16).

Notes: With its game one win, Stetson set a new school-record for most conference victories in a single season with 17 ... Meredith Owen moved into the top 10 in A-Sun history in wins (66) ... Chrissy Morello picked up career hits 196 and 197 ... Demi Meza has 24 career home runs ... Brittany Hawn converted six more chances without an error, extending her streak to 26 games and 83 chances in a row.
