On Saturday, December 3rd, the Stetson Shooting Club hosted their first meet with the University of North Florida, Jacksonville University, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The competition was held at Flager Gun & Archery Club in Bunnell, FL. The Stetson Shooting Club took 3rd place and Lander Talbott, one of the club members, took 3rd place overall in Trap. There were roughly 30 college shooters who participated and the overall response of the meet was very positive. Everyone had a really great time and they are already looking forward to the next meet. There was an opportunity to mingle with the shooters from the other universities as lunch was served after the meet. President, Trey Moore said, “It was a great first competition experience and we are looking forward to our big match in the spring!” You can view the photos and standings from the shoot on the Flagler Gun & Archery Club website

Other exciting news surrounding the Stetson Shooting Club includes the grant received in the fall semester by the Collegiate Shooting Sports Initiative through the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF). The purpose of the grant is to assist in creating the Shooting Club at Stetson University and focus on recruitment, retention, education, and provide more opportunities for students to participate in shooting sports at the club and collegiate level. Congratulations to the Stetson Shooting Club and all they have accomplished thus far! You can learn more about the NSSF’s Collegiate Shooting Sports Initiative at www.facebook.com/NSSFcollege.
