The Lady Hatters came out strong in their second home game of the season on Saturday, February 26th in the second game of Lax Fest. Hosting Palm Beach Atlantic University, the Lady Hatters scored quickly by a goal from Daffnee Cohen, which would be the first of many for her. PBAU tied it up at 1 goal a piece with around 15 minutes left in the first half. Kate Mathews came fighting back with a goal and the Lady Hatters led the Sailfish 2-1. PBAU went on a run at the end of the first half scoring their second goal of the game with 58 second remaining. They weren't done there, the Sailfish scored two more goals in that short amount of time to lead the Lady Hatters 4-2 going into halftime.
The second half proved to be a different story for the Lady Hatter. Daffnee Cohen came out firing with three goals to earn herself a hat trick and making that four goals on the day. Palm Beach Atlantic still lead the Hatters 7-5 with 16 minutes left in the game. Alex Prosper got on the board with her first goal of the game and Daffnee Cohen scored yet another as the Lady Hatters came battling back to bring it within one goal. With time winding down and PBAU leading 8-7, the Lady Hatters kept the fight. Victoria Irizarry scored the final goal in regulation and tied the game at 8 goals a piece.
In the first three minutes of overtime, the Lady Hatters made one great defensive stand after another with the help of goalie Amanda Fishman. They held PBAU scoreless until the 1:04 mark in overtime. PBAU took the lead 9-8 and Stetson made a driving play as Alex Prosper had a great shot on the goal, but PBAU's goalie made the stop and held the Lady Hatters off for the win. It was a great Lax Fest filled with exciting lacrosse games. The Lady Hatters will be home on Saturday, March 5th at 3:00 pm against the Jax Lax Lacrosse Club.
