On Saturday, February 18th, the Stetson Men's Lacrosse team hosted a three team tournament with Hogtowne and the Orlando Geckos, both of the Florida Lacrosse League (FLL). The first game began at 11am with Stetson taking on Hogtowne. Hogtowne dominated most of the game. The halftime score was 12-0 as the Hatters struggled to put points on the board. In the second half, Hogtowne continued to overpower Stetson. In the final moments of the game, Aaron Burris scored a goal as time expired to put the Hatters on the board making the final score 23-1 Hogtowne.
The second game of the day was played between the Orlando Geckos and Hogtowne. The first half was neck and neck with the score tied at 4 going into the second half. After three quarters, Hogtowne pulled ahead and was leading 10-5. Both teams scored three goals each in the fourth quarter making the final score Hogtowne over the Geckos 13-8.
The Geckos stuck around to take on the Hatters in the third game of the day beginning at 3pm. Michael Diaz put Stetson on the board much earlier in their second game of the day, scoring with two minutes remaining in the first quarter. After one, Orlando led Stetson 4-1. The Geckos put six more goals on the board in the second making the halftime score 10-1. David Bruce scored the Hatters second goal of the day in the third quarter, but the Geckos held the Hatters off for the rest of the game, beating Stetson by a score of 16-2.
Throughout the day, fans enjoyed Free-Wil BBQ provided by Hatter Productions and Stetson Club Sports for the second annual Lax Fest. It was a great day of lacrosse and the Stetson Men's Lacrosse team continues to improve each game. They are looking forward to another three game tournament at Valdosta State University with Morehouse University at the end of March.
