In late August, Ellie Macchione inquired about starting a women's soccer club after arriving to campus and hearing that there was only a men's club team. Late Thursday afternoon, that idea turned into a reality as Macchione and Alex Hodgins presented to the Club Sports Council their request to charter a women's club soccer team. With a unanimous vote in favor, many of the club presidents who sit on the Club Sports Council advisory board were surprised that this group had not formed sooner knowing the popularity of the sport on campus.

Macchione had been working on the clubs registration packet throughout the year and continually gaining interest from girls who'd played competitively in high school. The newly formed team will start competition in the Fall '13 and look to join the Southeast Collegiate Soccer Alliance Women's Division which is the same league where the men currently play. The specific division the women will most likely join is the Coastal Division for the Women's League which currently features teams like UF, FSU, UCF, USF, and UM.
