The Club Sports program hosted their second Annual Club Sports Banquet on Monday, April 29th with over 100 in attendance from the 17 different club sports teams. The banquet was held in the Stetson Room of the Carlton Union Bulding in the middle of campus. Dinner along with five awards were given out with club members being able to mingle with one another throughout the night and celebrate their acchievements.
Assistant Director Michael Gonzalez, and Graduate Assistant, Devin Legge, played hosts for the night and Mc'd the awards portion of the event. Three of the five awards were voted on by the members of the Club Sports Council while two of the awards were quantitative awards. The first award, Outstanding Service Award, was given to the Ultimate club for their work with Seabreeze High School's Ultimate Club. The second award, Top Fundraiser, was given to the Shooting Club who is in the process of creating an endowment fund for their club. The third award was the Most Improved Club which was given to the Surf Club for their membership growth and competing in every NSSA contest this year. The fourth club award went to the Rookie Club of the Year which was Triathlon for their continued work volunteering at races and also having members race throughout the year. Finally, the last award of the night, Club Sport of the Year, was given to the Shooting Club. The Shooting club exceeded in every facet of the Club Sports program: turning in paperwork on time, to communication, recruitment, retention, and competition, Shooting went above and beyond this year. Congratulations to all clubs awarded and to all our the Club Sports for an awesome 2012-2013 academic year.
