DeLAND--The Stetson University football coaching staff will give all of the women in the DeLand community a chance to brush up on their football knowledge before the Hatters take to the field this fall.
The coaching staff will host the 2nd Annual Women’s Football Clinic on Friday, August 1st, from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Athletics Training Center on the Stetson campus. The facility is located at the corner of Amelia and Minnesota Avenues.
“When we did this last year we didn't know what to expect, but we got such great reactions from the participants last year that we knew we would be doing it again this year,” said Assistant Athletic Director Jeffery Higgins.
Head football coach Roger Hughes, along with his coaching staff, will host the clinic, which will be geared toward all women, regardless of their level of football knowledge or experience.
“Participating in the first ever Stetson Women’s Football Clinic was an unforgettable experience. It was a great opportunity for new friendships and many laughs. The coaches provided us with inside knowledge and respect for the program. I don’t plan to ever miss this special event,” said Sherri Emery, a participant in last year’s clinic.
The clinic will include classroom sessions, on-field practice drills, and a post-clinic reception.
The cost to attend the Clinic is $75 per person and limited to the first 100 people. All proceeds for the event will benefit the Me Strong organization for cancer research.
