Two weeks ago the Stetson lacrosse team was still winless nearing the end of its first season in program history.  Today, the Hatters (2-13, 2-2) are riding a two-game win streak and are set to take on Detroit (4-13, 3-1) in the semifinals of the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship on Friday.

Stetson, which clinched a berth in the conference’s first ever women’s lacrosse championship with its 18-13 win at Howard on April 19, earned the three seed after Detroit defeated Kennesaw State on Sunday.

With the Titans’ victory over the Owls in the regular season finale, they garnered the two seed. Kennesaw State (1-9, 1-3) earned the four seed, and will take on top seeded Jacksonville (11-5, 4-0) in the other semifinal.

Stetson and Detroit’s semifinal is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. at Jacksonville University’s Southern Oak Stadium.  The game will feature live stats at and free live video at ASun.TV.  Tickets are $5 per day, but free to students with an ID.

The Hatters and the Titans met earlier this season, when Detroit came out victorious 19-9 at the Stetson Athletic Training Center.  Thanks to a 7-2 start, the Titans were able to withstand a late four goal rally by the Hatters to earn the victory back on April 12.

Stetson hasn’t lost since, defeating Kennesaw State 19-7 at home, and topping Howard 18-13 on the road.  The Hatters recorded 30 shots per game during the two wins, while holding their opponents to just 23.5 shots.  Of Stetson’s 37 goals in its final two contests, 15 were assisted.  KSU and Howard recorded just five assists on 20 total scores.

Detroit, meanwhile, is coming off of a 22-3 win over Kennesaw State, and has recorded three of its four victories over the last two weeks of the season.  Against the other conference teams, the Titans defeated Howard 16-5, and they lost to Jacksonville 16-2.

The winner of Friday’s semifinal will take on the winner of Kennesaw State and Jacksonville, a game that takes place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.  Sunday’s title game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in Jacksonville.
