The Stetson sand volleyball team wrapped up the Fiesta on Siesta Key tournament with bracket play on Sunday.

In the Fiesta Fun competition, Stetson pairs played in four different brackets. The format was single elimination matches of one set to 25. Tiffany Creamer and Kristin Lind shined in the B bracket as they made it all the way to the finals before falling 25-19 to Florida International's Kristine Monforte and Martyna Gluchowicz.

"Kristin and Tiffany were a strong pair today," head coach Kristina Hernandez said. "I am proud of them for making it to the finals. They played tough against FIU in the finals match and battled every point. It was fun to watch."

Creamer and Lind went 3-1 for the day, defeating teams from Grand Canyon, Florida Gulf Coast, and North Florida. Several other Stetson duos gave strong performances. In the D bracket, Erika White and Kara Young reached the semi-finals while Madison Tormey and Stephanie Marin finished in the quarterfinals. Jordann Dierickx and Maren Rygh, who also competed in the B bracket, made it to the quarterfinals.

In the top bracket of Fiesta Fun, Stetson's Julie Bassett and Rachael Farrell picked up wins against pairs from Florida International and Florida Atlantic. The duo advanced to the semi-finals, but they were unable to defeat College of Charleston's Sloane White and Andi Zbojniewicz.

"Julie and Rachael made it to the semis in their bracket, but ultimately we couldn't defensively stop Charleston," Hernandez explained. "However, as a pair they improved tremendously over the weekend on some things we've been working on."

The Fiesta Pairs tournament also continued on Sunday as the top two seeds from each team faced off in bracket play. These matches were single elimination with regular scoring. In the gold division, Kaley Melville and Kaylee Anderson earned a dramatic victory Florida International's Cupp and Toghiyani (21-14, 19-21, 21-19). Melville and Anderson fell 21-7, 21-12 to Florida State's top seed of Aurora Davis and Jace Pardon in the quarterfinals. The duo finished the weekend with a record of 4-1.

Stetson honored their seniors Jordann Dierickx, Katie DiGirolamo, Kara Young, and Rachael Farrel prior to the start of play.

"I want to congratulate the seniors on a great weekend of play," Hernandez said. "All four seniors advanced on the first day, and Jordan made it to the quarterfinals with Maren today in their bracket. All of them continue to get better and set their standards of play high."

With regular season complete, Stetson now looks forward to Atlantic Sun conference tournament this weekend. The Hatters will face Jacksonville at 11 a.m. on Friday in Fort Myers, Fla.
