Eight members of the Stetson University sand volleyball team earned postseason honors from the Atlantic Sun Conference on Thursday.
The Hatters No. 2 pairing of Catherine Coston (Pierson, Fla.) and Savannah Byl (Bradenton, Fla.) and No. 4 pairing of Maren Rygh (Tonsberg, Norway) and Jordann Dierickx (Jacksonville, Fla.) earned All-Atlantic Sun First Team honors.
In addition, Dierickx, Rygh, and Julie Bassett (Wadsworth, Ohio) were all named to the Academic All-Conference team.
Byl and Coston won seven matches in a row from March 14-22 and earned A-Sun Pair of the Week honors on March 18. They picked up A-Sun victories over Jacksonville, FGCU, and Mercer, as well as non-conference wins against UNF, Florida Atlantic and Georgia State.
Dierickx and Rygh went 14-2 in dual matches and 7-1 in A-Sun matches during the regular season. They won non-conference matches against Tulane, UNF, Jacksonville, Florida Atlantic and #9 Georgia State, and they were named A-Sun Pair of the Week on March 25.
Anderson went 11-6 overall and 5-3 in A-Sun matches while playing entirely at the No. 1 seed with Kaley Melville. She won A-Sun matches against UNF, FGCU, and Mercer, while claiming non-conference victories against Tulane, Warner, Florida Atlantic, and Georgia State. She has won nine of her last 10 matches entering the A-Sun tournament.
Creamer and Lind teamed all season to go a perfect 8-0 in A-Sun matches while playing primarily at the no. 5 position. All eight of their A-Sun wins came by 2-0 scores, and they also won non-conference matches against Tulane, Georgia State, and Webber. As a team they were named the A-Sun Pair of the Week on March 11.
Dierickx (3.71 cumulative GPA), Rygh (3.33), and Bassett (3.32) represented Stetson well on the Academic All-Conference Team. Bassett won eight dual matches overall including four in conference play during the regular season.
Stetson (14-3) is the No. 2 seed for the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship and will take on No. 3 seed Jacksonville at 11 a.m. Friday.
