San Diego, Calif. - Stetson head softball coach Frank Griffin was one of more than 120 coaches throughout the country honored for reaching milestone victories in the 2010 season during the Easton Victory Club Luncheon at the 2010 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) convention Thursday in San Diego. Griffin achieved his 700th career victory on March 9 and finished the season with 723 career victories. Griffin ranks 24th in career wins among active NCAA Division I softball coaches entering the 2011 season.
Griffin began last year with 689 career wins, achieving the milestone 700th win on March 9 when then-senior pitcher Amanda Lindsey '10 tossed a no-hitter in a 2-0 Hatters win over Austin Peay at Patricia Wilson Field. Stetson finished the season 34-21 overall and 14-6 in the Atlantic Sun, marking the program's 10th winning season in the last 11 years and the 11th in Griffin's 14 seasons at Stetson. He also coached Winthrop to seven consecutive winning campaigns from 1983-89.
The 2011 season will begin February 11 when the Hatters host Boston College and Michigan State to start the Stetson Lead-Off Classic at Patricia Wilson Field.
