DeLand, Fla. - Citing family demands, Stetson University Head Volleyball Coach Cheryl Carlson has resigned that position, effective immediately, yet will remain with Stetson Athletics in an administrative role within the department.

Carlson coached the Hatters for seven seasons from 2004-10, producing one First Team All-Atlantic Sun Conference selection (Kira Smedley, 2004), two Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team honorees (Sarah Sears, 2006 & Kelli Carneal, 2009) and three A-Sun Player of the Week award winners (Smedley, Dee Ann Dempsey and Karla Readshaw).  Prior to Stetson, Carlson also spent seven years at the helm of Virginia Commonwealth's NCAA Division I program (1994-2001).

Carlson, who will work closely with Senior Associate Athletic Director Richard Skeel on business and internal operations, says she is looking forward to her new opportunity.

Led by Director of Athletics Jeff Altier, the search for Stetson's next head volleyball coach has already begun.
