DeLand, Fla. - Stetson junior women's golfer Alexandria Buelow (Palm City, Fla.) has been named Atlantic Sun Conference Golfer of the Week for October 5, the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon. Buelow is coming off a tie for first place at Nevada's Wolf Pack Classic earlier this week, her sixth career college tournament title; this is her first weekly award from the league to go along with three A-Sun Player of the Month honors, an award no longer given.
Buelow shot 73-70 for a one under par 143 total at the 36-hole Wolf Pack Classic this past Monday-Tuesday at Dayton Valley Golf Club (Dayton, Nev.), tying for first place with a golfer from the University of San Francisco. That victory was her second straight in a season opener as she also tied for co-medalist honors at the 2010 UNCG Starmount Classic. Other wins for Buelow are the 2009 Holiday Inn Express Hatter Classic, 2010 Cincinnati Spring Invitational, 2011 Siena Homewood Suites Invitational and the 2011 Atlantic Sun Conference Championships.
In addition to being the defending A-Sun tournament champion, Buelow has captured A-Sun Player of the Year honors in each of her first two campaigns with the Hatters. She previously won A-Sun Player of the Month honors in October 2009, November 2009 and September 2010. Stetson finished fifth at the Wolf Pack Classic to open its 2011-12 season and its quest for a fourth consecutive Atlantic Sun Conference championship.
The Hatters are in action this weekend (October 7-9) at the Xavier Invitational, held at Daytona Beach's LPGA International golf resort.
