The Stetson Crew team traveled to the Tampa Mayor's Cup Regatta on March 17 and the team medaled in five out of seven events.
Other schools the Hatters competed against included Chattanooga, Florida State, Hamilton College and St. Lawrence University.
The sun rose and the women's pair of Shay Martin and Christy Ruane took charge down the course. They crossed the line first to win the gold over five other crews.
The men's pair of Gary Marra and Mike Sigrist took second in their race, followed by the other men's pair of Bill Brady and Taylor Hetherington in third
The lightweight women's four took a bronze medal in the openweight category and the JV4 women took home silver.
In one of the most exciting races of the day, the Novice Women came down the course ahead of all competitors. They won with a time of 5:52:54 over Tampa, UTC and Hamilton College.
The Novice 8 gold went to Bria Parrish, Amanda Ponce, Alicja Duda, Nikki Caballero, Chloe Blackketter, Shannon MaCarthy, Molly Winsten and coxswain Aiden Keller.
The regatta was a successful start to the season and the team is looking foward to the big sprint races that will follow in the next few weeks.
The lightweight women's four travels to UCF this week for a dual meet with the rowing teams from UCF and Jacksonville.
