DeLand, Fla. - Recent Stetson graduate Maksim Levanovich '12 (Minsk, Belarus) has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference's male recipient of its NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship award, the conference announced this week at its annual summer meetings.
Levanovich, the 2012 A-Sun Player of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's tennis, won 64 singles matches and 65 doubles matches during his outstanding four-year career with the Hatters, leading Stetson to the A-Sun tournament finals three times in that span. At last month's Stetson University commencement ceremonies, he was honored with the Wendell Jarrard Sr. Award for Excellence as well as the Outstanding Senior Award among International Business majors. He shared the latter honor with men's tennis teammate Njal Stene.
Each of the 31 NCAA Division I conferences awards a postgraduate scholarship each year to its most deserving male and female student-athletes based on their accomplishments in the classroom and in their chosen sport. Levanovich was joined by Lipscomb women's basketball/track and field student-athlete Brittany Duerk as the A-Sun's 2011-12 honorees.
