DeLand, Fla. - Stetson Head Volleyball Coach Tim Loesch is proud to announce the addition of five incoming freshmen to the indoor volleyball program. Shannon Craighead, Evann Dickerson, Alexa Drost, Michelle Kastner and Tawni Small will join the Hatters as freshmen for the fall campaign. Craighead in particular was an AVCA Under Armor Honorable Mention All-American in high school.

Craighead played volleyball along with both indoor and outdoor track and field at CSHS; on the volleyball court she was a two-time First Team All-State honoree in Virginia with PrepVolleyball All-American and Academic All-American honors as well as selection to the AVCA's national All-American list. A 6'0 setter, she led the CSHS Knights to a state championship as a senior with a school record 997 assists, 138 kills, 232 digs, 64 aces and 53 blocks. For her career, she tallied 2,031 assists, 360 kills, 638 digs, 109 blocks and 168 aces while pacing the Knights to 98 victories over four seasons. An outstanding student and community leader, Craighead was Cave Spring's valedictorian, senior class president and homecoming queen.

Dickerson, a 5'8" defensive specialist, was also a dual sport athlete in volleyball and track, holding a school record in the triple jump. She recorded more than 500 kills in her last two volleyball seasons at OCHS and helped lead the Colonels to a state quarterfinal appearance in 2009. An Academic All-State selection and National Honor Society member, Dickerson was Oldham County High School's valedictorian for 2012. She may also join the Stetson sand volleyball squad for Spring 2013.

A 5'4" defensive specialist, Drost brings winning experience to Stetson as her Green Valley High School squad won a state championship in 2011 after back to-back state title match appearances and three regional championships. She was a First Team All-Conference and All-Region honoree and holds the GVHS career digs record. An honor student and Nevada All-State Academic Team selection, Drost was the vice president of her senior class.

Kastner, a 5'3" defensive specialist, lettered for four years in basketball and softball in addition to volleyball at Brawley Union High School, earning All-League and Defensive Player of the Year awards for volleyball in the process. The owner of 473 career digs, Kastner helped the BUHS Wildcats to four consecutive league championships and was a four-time San Diego Union Tribune All-Academic Team selection. She was an honor roll student throughout high school.

The only Floridian among the incoming freshmen, Small is a 5'9" opposite and middle hitter. She helped lead the Winter Springs High School Bears to a 25-6 record and a state runner-up finish as a senior. Small was a member of four honor societies at WSHS and had the highest grade-point average in the 2012 graduating class.

These five join outside hitter/opposite Cailyn Prewitt (Rocklin, Calif.) and setter Kayla Weller (Marietta, Ga.) to make seven freshmen for the Hatters in 2012. Also joining the roster will be sophomore outside hitter Catherine Coston (Pierson, Fla.), who transferred to Stetson from Southeastern University in January 2012 after leading the Fire with 285 kills as a freshman.
