Erica Schmidt was named the Compliance Coordinator for Stetson Athletics for the start of the 2012-13 season. Schmidt, previously a graduate assistant in compliance at the University of West Florida, began on June 25 with the Hatters.
Schmidt works with Assistant AD for Compliance Jorie Tress in administering a comprehensive NCAA Division I and Atlantic Sun Conference rules compliance program at Stetson. As the Compliance Coordinator, Schmidt's responsibilities include ensuring compliance for the program in a number of areas, maintaining website content, producing compliance newsletters, and more.
Before coming to Stetson, Schmidt was a graduate assistant for compliance at West Florida for two years, where she monitored recruiting logs for all 13 teams, assisted in the creation and completion of the compliance manual, and advised over 220 student-athletes.
Prior to her time at West Florida, where Schmidt earned her Master of Education degree in 2012, the Pittsburgh native worked in the compliance office and was a member of the track and field team as an undergraduate at Robert Morris University. Schmidt graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 2010 from RMU, and was a Northeast Conference Champion as a pole-vaulter for the Colonials.
