The Stetson athletics department is pleased to announce the hiring of Michael Gonzalez as Director of Club Sports and Jamie Bataille as Assistant Director of Athletic Communications.
Gonzalez has been at Stetson for the past six years, earning both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Business. He completed his undergraduate degree with a double major in Marketing and Management Information Systems in 2010, and later achieved his MBA in 2012.
As an undergraduate Gonzalez worked for three years in Campus Recreation and Intramural Sports. From 2010-12 he served as a Graduate Assistant for Club Sports, assisting with the general Club Sports office needs including planning, advising, developing the club sports program and the student leaders within.
Bataille originally came to Stetson in 1999 as the assistant Sports Information Director, then served as the Sports Information Director from 2001-06, where he oversaw publicity efforts for all 15 athletic programs.
From 2006-11, Bataille served as a sales and customer service representative for Tennant Printing Company (DeLand, Fla.), where he managed the Collegiate Publications division. In 2011-12, Bataille worked in the renewable energy industry as a Solar Energy Specialist for Solar-Fit (Holly Hill, Fla.).
A Chicago-area native, Bataille graduated from DePaul Univeriversity in 1997 with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication and Mathematics. He earned a Master's in Statistics at The University of Memphis in 1999 after a two-year stint as a graduate assistant in the Memphis Athletic Media Relations department.
Gonzalez will oversee all aspects of Stetson's 17-sport Club Sports program. Bataille will serve as the primary media contact for volleyball, women's basketball, and softball.
