ORLANDO, Fla. –
The Stetson women’s tennis team finished day one of competition at the Knights
Invitational on Friday in Orlando. The Hatters competed in both doubles and
singles on the day.
In doubles, the team of Sara Lazarevic and MayaBlue
Stauffer-MacDowell fell to Ana Pimienta and Erin Gebes (Marquette) 8-3. Diana
Bukajev and Andrea Crespo were victorious in their match, defeating Rocio Diaz
and Aleeza Kanner (Marquette), 8-3. The final doubles match of the day saw the
duo of Jen Miller and Clarke Tatje fall to Aina Hernandez and Ali Dawson
(Marquette) 9-8.
In singles competition, five Hatters came away with a win on
Friday. Andrea Crespo defeated Morgan Bechtel (FGCU) 6-3, 6-4. Diana Bukajeva
won her match over Johanna Sterkel (FGCU) 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6). Lindsey Cable
was victorious, defeating Bettina Botha, winning 6-3, 6-3.
Jen Miller picked up a win, beating Zhoe Solaun (FGCU) 6-2,
6-4. MayaBlue Stauffer-MacDowell was the final Hatter to earn a singles win,
knocking off Gyanna Mandi (FGCU) 6-0, 6-1.
Sara Lazarevic fell to Sarah Means (FGCU) 6-1, 6-3 and
Clarke Tatje lost her match to Elizabeth Means (FGCU) 7-6, 7-5.
The Hatters will continue play tomorrow at 10 am, when they
will compete in both doubles and singles matches.
