- The Stetson women's tennis team finished play on Sunday at the Wake Forest
Invitational in Winston-Salem.
In the final of the E singles draw, Jen Miller fell to Alice
Garcia (Winthrop), losing 6-1, 6-2. MayaBlue Stauffer-MacDowell suffered the
same fate in the F singles draw, losing to Briana Berne (Elon) 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.
In the B singles draw, Diana Bukajeva defeated Giovanna
Portioli (Winthrop) 7-6 (4), 1-6, 6-1 to claim third place. Lindsey Cable fell
to Emily Mathis (WVU) in the third place match of the D singles draw, losing
6-2, 6-1.
In the A doubles bracket, Bukajeva and Andrea Crespo fell to
Hailey Barrett and Ikttesh Chahal (WVU) in the fifth place bracket, losing 9-7.
In the C doubles draw, Cable and Stauffer-MacDowell won their match, defeating
Darien Sears and Cassie Fisbeck (Navy) 8-1.
The Hatters return to action October 19, when they travel to
Tampa to compete in the ITA Southeast Regional.
