The Stetson men's soccer
team returns to Atlantic Sun Conference action with a 1:00 p.m. bout with USC
Upstate on Sunday. The Hatters and the
Spartans are both 1-1 in league action before Upstate takes on FGCU Friday
night.
USC Upstate makes a trip
to Florida this weekend for a pair of games at FGCU and Stetson. The Spartans are currently 1-1-0 in league
play and 3-6-1 overall. Upstate lost
five straight contests before defeating North Florida by a score of 4-1 on
October 7. It marked one of only two
games this season that the Spartans have scored more than one goal. Dave Musambi and Dylan Hoope lead the team
with three goals each in 2012.
The Hatters have never
lost to the Spartans in the short time that this series has been alive. Stetson
holds a 4-0-1 advantage over USC Upstate since the first meeting between the
two teams back in 2007. Last season the
Hatters won a 3-2 overtime game in Spartanburg.
Junior Andreas Schnabl
recorded his second shutout of the season in Wednesday's 0-0 draw with
UCF. It marked the 12th of his career,
setting a new record at Stetson for all-time shutouts. The junior passed former Hatter Ed Funcheon,
who tallied 11 from 1985-88. Schnabl is
also the current leader in all-time career goals against average with a mark of
1.12.
