In its first-ever meeting with the newest member of the Atlantic Sun Conference, the Stetson volleyball team (4-21, 0-8 A-Sun) fell 3-0 to Northern Kentucky Friday evening at Regents Hall.

The Norse (18-3, 6-2 A-Sun) hit .302 for the match and won by scores of 25-14, 25-18, and 25-23.

Cailyn Prewitt recorded 10 kills to lead the Hatter offense.  Kaley Melville added seven kills and 12 digs.  Kelli Carneal registered 18 assists and Monique Russell tallied 10 digs.

"Cailyn Prewitt did a real nice job for us today," Stetson head coach Tim Loesch said.  "Monique Russell did well in her role, but we didn't get too much from anyone else.  We finally started following the gameplan late in the match but it was far too late.  Hopefully we will learn from this loss and come back strong tomorrow."

Stetson's best run in the match came when the Hatters were facing match point, down 24-17 in the third set.  A pair kills from Melville sparked a 6-0 run as Stetson was able to cut the deficit all the way to 24-23 before NKU finally put the match away.  Prewitt had a kill and a block assist and Russell added a service ace during that six-point stretch.

The Norse's Haley Lippert led all hitters with 12 kills and a .476 attack percentage.

Graduate student Samantha Freeman played in her 99th career match.

The Hatters will visit Lipscomb in an A-Sun match at 3 p.m. Saturday.
