Freshman opposite hitter Cailyn Prewitt recorded double-digit kills for the second straight match but the Stetson volleyball team fell 3-0 to host Lipscomb in an Atlantic Sun Conference contest at Allen Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
The Lady Bisons (11-9, 8-1 A-Sun) hit .489 for the match (50-6-90) and won by scores of 25-13, 25-19, and 25-14.
One day after posting 10 kills at Northern Kentucky, Prewitt tallied 11 kills and a .346 hitting percentage (11-2-26) to lead the Hatter offense. Kaley Melville added six kills and Ellen Hawks tallied four kills without an error on 11 attempts (.364 attack pct.).
"Cailyn Prewitt had a really good day, she attacked well, blocked well, served well, did pretty much everything we asked," Stetson head coach Tim Loesch said. "I thought Ellen Hawks had a good match as well. Lipscomb is a good team and they put a lot of pressure on us, and some of our girls weren't able to do their part on our side of the net."
Kelli Carneal registered 15 assists and Monique Russell picked up nine digs.
Graduate student Samantha Freeman picked up two blocks while playing in her 100th career match.
Jewell Dobson hit .636 (14-0-22) to lead the Lady Bisons.
The Hatters will return home to begin the second round of conference play next weekend. Stetson hosts Kennesaw State at 7 p.m. on Friday and Mercer at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
