The Stetson men's basketball team travels to Daytona Beach
on Monday to take on Volusia County rival Bethune-Cookman. The Hatters (2-3) will look to snap a
two-game losing streak against the Wildcats (2-6) at 7:00 p.m. in Moore Gym.
Following a hard fought 63-54 loss at home to USF on Nov.
26, Stetson traveled to Richmond and dropped a 92-56 game at VCU on Nov. 28. The Rams, who are receiving votes in most
national polls, were a final four team just two seasons ago.
On Monday the Hatters will look to get back to the winning
ways they saw in the middle of November, which included a pair of 22-point
victories over Florida A&M and Southeastern. Stetson has used unselfish play throughout
its first five games, and was in fact leading the nation in assists per game
with a mark of 20.0 when the NCAA released statistics for the first time on
In Bethune-Cookman, Stetson faces a team in just its second
home contest, holding a record of 2-6 with seven of eight tilts coming on the
road. The Wildcats recently fell to
Florida A&M in Tallahassee by a score of 75-67, a team that the Hatters
topped 88-66 back on Nov. 13.
The Hatters have a history of success against B-CU, holding
a 19-5 advantage in the all-time series, but since 1997 the two teams have
alternated victories during the last seven meetings. Last year, Stetson won 65-60 in the
season-opener. In the Wildcats favor is
that they have had much more success at home, trailing the Hatters just 4-3 in
