Over the weekend the Stetson Surf
club traveled to New Smyrna Beach Inlet to compete in their sixth contest of
the year. At the contest Stetson competed against University of Florida,
University of Central Florida, Daytona State, University of North Florida,
Flager College and Florida Gulf Coast University. The conditions were not
ideal, with the wind blowing N-NW and the waves small. Stetson sent competitors
for both the men’s and women’s divisions. The men’s shortboard competitors were
Sean McKnight and Willie Lane, and in the longboard division Stetson sent
Charlie Lane, Roth Allen, Jon Miller and Willie Lane. Willie Lane was the only
surfer from Stetson to reach the finals. The next event for Stetson Surf is
March 3rd.
