The Stetson lacrosse team (0-13, 0-2) hits the field again on Sunday, and it will be the last time the Hatters play at home in 2013. Playing host to Kennesaw State (1-7, 1-1) at 4:00 p.m. at the Athletic Training Center, it will mark the final home contest ever for lone senior Kristina Cicchetti.
Cicchetti, who began playing lacrosse as a freshman at Stetson with the school’s club program, refers to her only season at the varsity level as “amazing experience.”
“It’s definitely helped me grow a lot as a person,” Cicchetti went on to say about her experience with the Hatters. “[It also helped me to] really push myself to be the best that I can be, and I couldn’t have done that without the coaching staff and [my] teammates here.”
Playing in four out of the Hatters’ 13 games thus far in 2013, Cicchetti has made a point to help the team in any way that she can. “I really try to come out every day and have a really positive attitude, get everyone really pumped up and excited to be here,” she said.
“It’s Florida,” Cicchetti concluded. “It’s the best place ever to play lacrosse. [I try to] show everyone that if you work really hard, you’ll accomplish a lot.”
That’s what Cicchetti and Stetson will attempt to do on Sunday. A win against Kennesaw State would be the first for the Hatters, and would give Stetson momentum heading into its final regular season game at Howard next weekend.
