The Stetson men’s and women’s tennis programs were recently honored with both team and individual academic honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
The ITA’s All-Academic Team awards are given to the programs that have a cumulative team GPA of 3.20 or above. This marks the fifth consecutive year that the men’s team has made the list, and its eighth overall. The women’s squad has earned the honor four times overall, and this is the second in a row for the program.
“Receiving this recognition from the ITA is a very important goal for both of our teams,” Stetson Director of Tennis Pierre Pilote said. “To be able to achieve such academic success with Stetson’s rigorous curriculum is no small feat.”
In addition to the team awards, eight Stetson tennis players were also named ITA Scholar-Athletes after achieving GPAs of 3.50 or higher during this past academic year.
Didrik Berg, Nathan Debut, Chester Espie, and Hans Adrian Riseng were honored for the men’s team, while Diana Bukajeva, Anja Erwin, Sara Lazarevic, and MayaBlue Stauffer-MacDowell earned the accolades for the women’s team.
The Hatter men open the fall season at the Southern Intercollegiate in Athens, Georgia on September 13. The women begin on September 20 at the College of Charleston Invite in South Carolina.
