Women's Tennis Prevails Against Owls, 4-3

MARIETTA, Ga. – The Stetson women's tennis team (8-5, 3-0) bounced back from a recent loss, defeating Kennesaw State (5-7, 0-1) by a score of 4-3 on Friday afternoon, remaining undefeated in Atlantic Sun Conference play.

The match began with singles, where Stetson won four of the six matches to capture the victory. Kennesaw State picked up the first point of the match after junior Lindsey Cable was forced to retire after trailing 6-2, 1-0. Senior Sara Lazarevic got the Hatters on the board when she defeated Alexandra Apostu 6-4, 6-2.

At number three singles, junior Diana Bukajeva defeated Jana Hueckinghaus by a score of 6-2, 6-2. Senior Jen Miller defeated Tamara Plocher 7-5, 6-1 and freshman Andrea Crespo defeated Virginie Stein 4-6, 7-6, 6-3 to clinch the match for Stetson.

In doubles, Stetson was already down one match due to Cable's retirement during singles. Bukajeva and Miller kept the Hatters in contention for the point, defeating Stein and Plocher by a score of 8-3. However, Crespo and Lazarevic were defeated by Apostu and Hueckinghaus by a score of 8-4, giving the Owls the point.

Stetson is back in action tomorrow, March 23, when the Hatters take on Mercer. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
