Hatters Split With Lipscomb on Saturday

Stetson Wins 8-5, Falls 2-1

Nashville, Tenn. -- Stetson collected a season-high 13 hits en route to an 8-5 victory over Lipscomb in Game 1 Saturday afternoon at Draper Diamond.  The Bisons took the nightcap 2-1 to earn a split in the ASUN doubleheader.   

In the opener, the Hatters (19-17, 3-5 ASUN) broke open a 3-3 tie with five runs in the top of the seventh inning.  Marissa Baxter knocked in the go-ahead run with a single to right, Jordyn Stanfill delivered a two-out, two-run double to rightcenter, and Juls Schumacher and Annabella McClerren also drove in a run apiece.

Caitlyn Kulczyski (4-1) came out the bullpen to earn the win, striking out side in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Stetson starter Hannah Marien struck out three over five innings of work.

Stetson's 3-through-6 hitters combined to go 8-for-13 with four RBI.  Evette Morgan, Baxter, Schumacher, and Gianna Niemeier registered two hits apiece.  Schumacher drove in a team-high three runs.

In game 2, Alyssa Gilman gace the Hatters a 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the fourth, but the Bisons (14-17, 4-4) came back with one in the fifth and one in the seventh to walk off with the win.

Lauren Hobbs went the distance for the Hatters in the circle, allowing two runs on seven hits.  She walked one and struck out four.

The teams will play the rubber game of the series at 1 p.m. ET Sunday.
