Box Score The Stetson Softball team fell 2-4 against UCF, Wednesday night.
Â
Hannah Marien started in the circle for the Hatters, and she struggled to start the game giving up a two-run home run in the first inning.
Madelyn Synoracki was the first Hatter to reach base on a single to left field in the first.
Â
Marien settled in for the home half of the second and the two pitchers dueled it out over the course of the next four innings. In the top half of the sixth
Nadia English pinch hit and reached base on an error by the third baseman.
Briana Robinson followed that up with a pinch-hit single to put runners on first and second with no outs. A fielder's choice and sacrifice bunt put runners on second and third for
Kami Eppley with two outs. Eppley shot a rocket just over the shortstop and into left field. Robinson and
Addison Foster came around to score with Foster just beating the throw from left.Â
Â
UCF was able to plate two more runs even though Eppley almost robbed them of the opportunity with a diving leap but the ball just hit the edge of her glove.Â
Â
Eppley added two more RBIs to her team lead giving her 16 on the season. Four different Hatters tallied a hit on the night.
Â
Stetson will now return home to DeLand, and host Robert Morris for a three game series. They will have a double header on Saturday, March 9 at 1pm and 3:30pm before finishing the series Sunday, March 10 at noon.
