Miami, Fla. - The Stetson softball team suffered its first on the road loss of the 2023 season, Wednesday afternoon at the FIU Softball Stadium. The Hatters began the game strong with the first run recorded by senior
Brianna Clary. Stetson's sophomore
Haley Fox came up strong after scoring again in the first, giving SU the 2-0 advantage over the Panthers. But the Panthers weren't done. Sophomore Brooke McCann singled up the middle, advancing Kaleena Downing to second, advancing Ashton Lansdell and Makayla Navarro home, tying the score at two.
Stetson responded when sophomore
Kami Eppley scored for the Hatters, giving them the 3-2 advantage. Panther's Makayla Navarro and Alexis Ross delivered in the fifth, giving the Panthers the lead over the Hatters. Two more runs were scored late in the fifth to make the final score 6-3 over Stetson.
The Hatters will look to respond to the adversity on February 17 when they host the Hatter Classic at Patricia Wilson Field.
