After two years as a secondary player, Bill Hester (1961-65) came into his own as a force on the basketball court during his junior season. Hester averaged 18.1 points per game over his final two seasons, including 20.2 points per game as a senior. He also averaged just under 10 rebounds per game (9.8) in those two seasons, allowing him to finish his career as one of five Hatters to grab at least 750 rebounds. Hester’s 775 rebounds were second in program history upon the completion of his eligibility. He scored a program record 45 points against Tampa as a junior, and he is one of 35 players in program history with at least 1,000 career points. An Edgewater, Fla., native, Hester was inducted into the Stetson Athletics Hall of Fame in 1985.
