Hall of Fame
In 37 seasons as baseball head coach at Stetson (1980-2016), Pete Dunn left a legacy of success. The numbers speak for themselves: 1,312 victories, 35.4 wins a year, 17 NCAA Regional Tournament appearances, nine ASUN Conference titles, a record six conference coach of the year awards, and a total of 84 players advancing to play professional baseball. Five of those players were drafted in the first four rounds of the MLB Amateur Draft, and nine have reached the Major Leagues. In 2014, he was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, and in 2019 he was chosen for induction into the Florida Sports Hall of Fame. A former catcher for the Hatters, Dunn spent two seasons playing minor league baseball for the Kansas City Royals before beginning his coaching career. In 1977 he returned to Stetson to serve as an assistant under his former coach, Jim Ward. After Ward left for another job prior to the 1980 season, Dunn was promoted to the top spot. And the rest is a grand part of Stetson Athletics history. Dunn was inducted into the Stetson Athletics Hall of Fame in 1992.
