Bryan Brasington, who began his athletic career at Clemson before leaving to serve in World War II with the Merchant Marines, played wingback on several Stetson football teams in the ‘40s and later played two seasons of professional baseball for the minor league DeLand Red Hats (unaffiliated). Brasington was born in Heath Springs, S.C. He was recruited by the Boston Red Sox, but turned down the offer to become a minister. He was inducted into the Stetson Athletics Hall of Fame in 1979.
