Before Stetson had intercollegiate sports for women, Wilson played intramural sports. Later, she became a member of the Board of Trustees for Stetson’s Division I athletics programs. Wilson also helped to promote the school within Florida and advocated for sports as a positive activity for students. In her honor, Stetson’s award winning softball complex, an athletic center, and a dormitory were named after her. In 1981, she was awarded Stetson’s Distinguished Alumni Award and in 1998 was named Trustee Emerita.
