Local product Frank Corr was one of the most sought-after recruits in the state of Florida while he prepped at nearby Father Lopez, but the DeLand native opted to stay at home and carve out a record-setting career at Stetson. One of the top offensive performers in college baseball during his era, Corr lettered four seasons with Stetson (1998-2001) and left school as a two-time All-American, ASUN Player of the Year and conference regular season and tournament champion. After beginning his career as a third baseman, Corr moved behind the plate his sophomore season. While those two years saw him produce solid offensive numbers (.307, 17 HR, 100 RBI), a move to the outfield in 2000 allowed Corr’s offensive prowess to shine through. As a junior, Corr slugged his way to ASUN Player of the Year and consensus first-team All-America honors by hitting .431 and setting school records for runs scored (87), doubles (37), home runs (18), RBI (98), and total bases (202). With Corr and pitching standout Lenny DiNardo leading the way, the Hatters rolled through the ASUN with a 20-7 record on their way to a school-record 48 wins and an appearance in the NCAA Atlanta Regional. Corr capped his career by hitting by hitting .374 as a senior and matching his own school mark with 18 home runs. He was once again named All-American, and was drafted in the 17th round by the New York Mets, playing three minor league seasons. When the dust settled on his Stetson career, Corr set school career records for slugging percentage (.647), doubles (79), home runs (53), total bases (562) and RBI (258). Corr was inducted into the Stetson Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007.
