The first golf coach in the history of Stetson Athletics and a long-time soccer coach, Wes Berner was posthumously inducted into the Stetson Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the inaugural class in 1975. Berner joined the coaching staff at Stetson in 1947 and remained until 1967. He served as men’s soccer head coach from 1959-66, winning 23 games for the fledgling program. The Wes Berner Homecoming Classic is an annual fundraising event played each homecoming weekend in his honor.
