Perhaps the most well-regarded player in Stetson women’s basketball history, Kristy Brown led the Hatters to new heights during her four seasons in DeLand (2001-05). A former ASUN Student-Athlete of the Year, Brown was the centerpiece of Stetson's 2005 ASUN Conference Championship and first NCAA Tournament appearance. The 6-foot-2 center captured tournament Most Valuable Player honors after hitting a game-winning shot against UCF in the semifinals and scoring 28 points against Georgia State in the championship. After competing in 107 games from 2001-05, Brown finished her career as the Hatters' second-leading scorer with 1,522 career points, and second-leading rebounder with 941 career rebounds. She averaged 14.2 points and a school-record 8.9 rebounds-per-game, and she still holds the single-game record with a 24-rebound effort against Charleston Southern. In 2004-05, Brown led the ASUN in scoring (16.8 ppg) and rebounding (10.8 ppg) en route to her second straight first-team all-conference selection. Brown excelled in the classroom as well, earning CoSIDA Academic first-team all-district honors in 2005. She was a four-time ASUN All-Academic Team selection and graduated from Stetson in just three-and-a-half years. She also earned her Master's Degree from Stetson in 2006. Brown was inducted into the Stetson Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010, and 10 years later she was selected for induction into the ASUN Hall of Fame.
