Hall of Fame
Known as “The Blonde Blizzard” on Stetson’s campus, John Imgrund initially attended Villanova University on a basketball scholarship before transferring to Stetson where he shined as a baseball, basketball, and football star. In 1954 and 1955 he was selected as the outstanding collegiate basketball player for the State of Florida by the Florida Sportswriters Association. Upon graduation Imgrund signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers. But after a shoulder injury ended his career after one minor league season, he came back to be the head coach for DeLand High's basketball team for four years. John then went back to his hometown of West Orange, N.J., to coach and be a teacher. Imgrund was inducted into the Stetson Athletics Hall of Fame in 1979.
