Hall of Fame
One of the top pitchers from the early days of Jim Ward Era, John Colvard was inducted into the Stetson Athletics Hall of Fame in 2001. A two-year letter winner (1972-73) for the Hatters and Stetson’s all-time leader in earned run average (2.18), Colvard tossed 18 complete games in his two seasons, including a then-record 12 in 1972. Colvard’s 1972 season was one for the record books, as the right-hander threw 124.0 innings and registered a 1.60 ERA while making 14 appearances. Colvard won 15 games in two seasons, striking out 110 batters in 228.1 innings. He threw the second no-hitter in program history on March 17, 1973 against Ohio State.
